Money Doesn’t Talk

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I have no clue how financial markets work. I’ve never had enough money to have to worry about investing and stocks and futures and all that, and so I have remained woefully ignorant about the whole mess. It’s one of the few areas of knowledge that I have zero interest in. I guess the investor relations department of my financial institution would be very disappointed in me. I’ll try not to cry.

I have never in my life used a moving company. I have moved across the country twice, and within a state 4 times, a state away once, and I have packed myself and moved myself each time. I’ve had help from friends, but never from professionals. i;ve never lost an item ot broken anything of significance. Those New York movers have got nothing on me!

I’m inordinately proud of myself for quitting smoking last year. I did it without patches, pills or drug rehab of any kind. I’m probably a bit testier, and I am certainly heavier, but I am also healthier and I sure smell better. I just wish I could walk away from this extra 20 pounds like I walked away from cigarettes.

Here’s a tidbit about me and babies. I haven’t used baby cribs proper in 4 babies. I put them in a bassinet, or in with me, or in a pak’n'play. A crib just seems like a horrible waste of premium floor space in an already crowded home. I used to use them though, and they sure were pretty with their frilly foo-foo bedding.

Surprised by my eyes

One thing has surprised me about getting older. My arms seem to have gotten shorter! Yes, it is true. I know this because I am having a real hard time holding things far enough away from my face to focus. Crazy, right? I thought I’d need a magnifier and that would be it, but I need to grow longer extremities, too. Do tall people have this problem, do you think?
