Soap

Monday, September 17th, 2007

I have mentioned before on other blogs that my Papa has a great sense of humor, and he has no problem laughing at himself. The year after he had a house fire, we were all gathered around the fireplace surround opening gifts, and Papa received bar after bar of soap. Everybody (except me) got papa soap. And as each bar was unwrapped the laughter got louder and louder, and eventually papa was wiping tears from his eyes because he was laughing so hard. I was so confused, but I understood at once after I finally asked. It seems that when the house was on fire, Papa ran back in. For soap. YKN! But yes, it was true. So the family was just making sire he had plenty of it.

And what did he do with all that soap? He had it all put into a clear lamp base and the last time I saw it, it was on the side table, across from the mantel.

Good Cake

Monday, September 17th, 2007

What about tales of the outrageous, and not-so-mundane? The ones that make me say “You Know Not!” Like the one my mother told me this weekend. We were conversing about something else, which I now forget, and i am sure you will see why, when she said “so, I finished that cake and….” Whoa, back up. She finished the cake. That she had made the day before. And that she’s already told me Daddy didn’t eat any of. She ate an entire cake in 24 hours. YKN! But it was true. An entire cake. The mind boggles.

In the Dark

Friday, September 14th, 2007

I’m still sitting here in the dark.. The blog fairy has not flipped on the kichler lighting, so there ya go. Well, that’s not exactly true. Since I last posted I have watched one episode of Star-Trek:TNG. I have read a couple of magazines and 2 books on quilting, all of which I would talk about on my craft blog if I talked about them at all. And I have listened to podcasts, likewise on crafts. I guess I have had the light turned on at least in the respect: If I am going to pull this blog out, it won’t be based on tv. Or books. Or movies.

Not having fun

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Ok, I think the time has come to admit something. I’ve been stamping return to sender on the postcards in my mental mailbox for a few weeks now, but sometimes mental Mailboxes contain stuff that should be paid attention to, and I think this is one of those times.

I am just not having fun here. I like the idea behind this blog, but I just don’t spend enough time entertaining myself via media to make it an easy blog to keep up. I mean, … I don’t know what I mean, except that this blog is not working for me, except in the strictest sense of the word “work”, and that’s not fair to any of the blog triangle. Something has to give. I’ll let you know when I figure out what it is, but yeah, I am taking suggestions.

Saturday Morning TV

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Remember back in the day, we had cool cartoons? Well, I am a victim of today’s kiddy television, and I am not thinking this change is for the better. See, instead of cartoons, they have live action shows, where kids are the stars. Most of these kids are spoiled rich brats, and none of them share rooms with their sibs or have to sleep in bunk beds. So much for reality TV.
