Spears Admits Problems

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

According to CNN, is apparently facing some of her issues. There’s a letter on her website explaining some of her recent behavior. It has got to be rough to live life under a microscope, every mistake magnified, under scrutiny from the world. I think about that each time I find myself getting the tiniest bit envious of some celebrity. Relative anonymity has it’s advantages. I could decide to drop off the face of the internet, and I’d only need to send out a few emails. But someone like Britney, she can’t even take her kids to an Orlando vacation home for a few days without being hounded.

I’ll note that the same thing is happening to Lindsay Lohan. CNN has published an incredibly unflattering picture of her to go along with a recent article on her that includes her stint in rehab, and subsequent apparent drug use. These are young girls. Oh, I know “everyone grows up so fast these days”. Yeah, but maybe they shouldn’t have to.

Money trouble

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

It’s been awhile since we’ve read about someone famous with money trouble, but I remember thinking last time, “now how the heck does someone with that much money get in financial difficulty?” It occurred to me today that it happens to them just the way it happens to us. We worry about (relatively) small things like school loan consolidation and they worry about mortgage payments with more zeros than some of us see in a year. But the fundamental stress is the same, isn’t it?

And job security? Yesterday’s hottie is this week’s has-been. I’m thinking stardom isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but I’ve thought that for a while, as you know if you are a regular reader here.

Paris

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

So I heard the other night that Paris Hilton has agreed to stop fighting her sentence, and will go peaceably to her new vacation home rental, aka JAIL. She’ll serve a whopping 23 days of her 45 days sentence, with time off for good behavior. Two questions: 1) what’s the point of sentencing someone to 45 days and then cutting the sentence in half? Why not just say what you mean in the first place? 2) can Paris Hilton really be on good behavior for 23 straight days?

Have you ever wanted to ? I confess that when I was younger, that idea was pretty tempting! If the idea appeals to you, then it’s time for you to dust off your video camera and make a wee movie. is sponsoring a video contest where users can win a date with the lovely Mirelly Taylor. The contest runs for the next 14 weeks, and anyone can participate, just by uploading a video. There are quite a few up already, and some of them are pretty funny. Users will be voting on the videos, but will be making the final selection. Here’s Mirelly to tell you all about it.

You can see her other free videos at GoFish.com, and vote for your favorite contestant, too. After Mirelly finds her date, other stars will be featured. Who would you like to win a date with?

After watching Miami last night, I have to say for me, it would be . I just want to take him by the lapels, look deep into his eyes, lean in real close and whisper, “David, get over yourself! You are ruining my favorite show with your incredible ego.”
