Did I hear

on ? Oh, yes I did! I was sitting here at the computer working on this site, and mellowing out to the tunes, thinking “that sounds familiar”. And then I heard jay say “Johnny Mathis”. Whodda thunk it? He still sounds good. The man was born in 1935, ya’ll. Nineteen Thirty Five. He’s 71 and still masterful!

Accidental

So I read that Anna Nicole Smith died from an accidental drug overdose. Did it really take a rocket scientist to figure this out? Or did the ME just want a little more limelight as I said? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Not only do they have no privacy, but the whole media machine stores their faults in the back of their minds. Like computer memory, erased, but not really gone, and you can get it back, at least until it’s overwritten by a larger, even more heinous screw-up. And for this one, I’m looking at Mel Gibson. If he’d been Joe Schmoe, his DUI and subsequent bizarre behavior would have rated a byline on page 4 of the local paper. But since he is MEL GIBSON, for crying out loud, his mess was thrust onto the front cover of half the magazines in the nation.

I have some of ’s early music here. You know he got his start singing in church, don’t you? His early Gospel stuff is so incredibly rich and powerful. I often wonder how differently his life (and death) would have been if he had continued to use his Christian gifts in service to the Ultimate King.

Here’s a question for ya. I know people in real life who have struggled with prescription drug addiction. I think we all do. And yet, I can’t ever remember hearing about a celebrity suffering from this malady. You hear plenty about alcohol and street drugs, but not prescription . One wonders if the only docs over there in Hellywood are plastic surgeons.
