Saturday Morning TV

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Remember back in the day, we had cool cartoons? Well, I am a victim of today’s kiddy television, and I am not thinking this change is for the better. See, instead of cartoons, they have live action shows, where kids are the stars. Most of these kids are spoiled rich brats, and none of them share rooms with their sibs or have to sleep in bunk beds. So much for reality TV.

We’ve been watching Star-Trek TNG around here the past few nights. I really enjoy introducing the kids to shows I used to like. And yeah, Patrick Stewart still gives me a little thrill. My girls are a little reticent to watch it, but the boys are eating it up like candy! Hehehe, it’s a new generation of Trekkies!

Last Gripe

Okay, this is my last whine for the day about soap operas. If I choose to whine again, it will be about something else. Deal? Deal. Okay, answer me this. They never discuss stuff that the rest of us deal with, stull like grocery budgets and the cost/benefit analysis of term life insurance versus regular life insurance. No, it’s always the weather in Puerto Vallarta, or the gardener’s tight pants. Or their amnesia and how it was the result of some horrible life changing event, except their makeup is still perfect. Think about it! Have you ever see Marlena Brady with a smudge on her face? Or without ear-rings? You Know Not!

And one more thing

have you ever noticed that on soaps all the furniture is glamorous? I mean it all absolutely matches as if it just came of the Powell furniture showroom floor. And the rooms, they are huge.

I had a conversation once with a friend, and we were talking about how people do their rooms, and how in big rooms, you always see the furniture in the middle of the rooms, but in small rooms, it’s back against the walls. When people studied it, they found that the furniture pieces were actually about the same distance apart, and it’s our concept of personal space that determines the distance, and not the size of the room. Interesting, huh?
