Call 911 for real!

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

I just played a new game, ya’ll, and I totally sucked at it! I found it at the Reno 911! Miami The Movie website. They’ve added four funny new games to celebrate the release of the unrated dvd. In case you haven’t heard about it, here’s the synopsis:

The story centers on a rag-tag team of Reno cops that are called in to save the day after a terrorist attack disrupts a national police convention in Miami Beach during spring break. They’re not the best, but that’s all we got. Based on the successful Comedy Central TV series.

The dvd includes the unrated widescreen feature, six extended scenes, and four public service announcements. There are also a couple of trailers for other movies and an easer egg. I’m not going to tell you what the easter egg is, you’ll have to visit The Movie to find that out for yourself.

Now, back to the games. I played , because it looked fun. But, umm, I am a complete failure as a member of the popo. In fact, I am sure I got fired, LOL! The results were just that ugly. I never made it to the crime scene, and I cost the city $126,000 in addition to my salary of $5400. Bustin’ bonus? That would be nada, because I apparently can’t drive.

Why don’t you play, too, and let me know how you did? You’ll find the games in the upper right corner of the Reno 911! Miami The Movie website. If you fared as badly as I did (or worse but I am not sure that’s possible???), leave me a comment and let me know. If you totally blew the game out, just a smiley will suffice :P

Movie Trailers

Monday, June 18th, 2007

If you enjoy flicks, I know you will enjoy this site. Apple has trailers (d’uh) which you can watch on the site, or download to your iPod. There are also links for official move sites once you click on the movie graphic. As a bonus, there are links to new soundtracks on the right hand side, about half way down the page. The trailers are free, the music is not.

Cinderella III

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

We watched as a family a couple of Friday nights ago, and I admit up front that I expected to be bored out of my gourd, so I took the laptop into the living room with me. The kids thought I was going to live blog the movie, ROFL. Instead of being bored, I found the movie fairly fresh and engaging. I was even laugh out loud funny in a couple of places, a real rarity for me and cartoons. This one is appropriate for all ages, and I recommend you watch it with your kids, becuase I think you’ll enjoy it, too.

One Last Dance

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

I watched again the other night, so it’s time for a review. The movie stars and . The plot is interesting, though not enthralling. The dance scenes are really the star of this movie. The tension between Neimi and Swayze is mesmerizing, and so intense that I had to look her up after I saw it the first time. When I discovered that she was his wife, it explained that extra “something”. I enjoyed the movie, and think it’s suitable for ages 12 and up, though you may want to watch it with younger teens.

1408 Movie

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I used to be a big fan of . I always liked that his stories were psychological thrillers rather than the typical blood and gore. The last book of his I read was Desperation. I just got too busy to read not long after it came out. (heh, I’ve been reading the same 700 page book for several months now. Nuff said?) I think The Long Walk is my favorite novella, and The Stand is probably my favorite book, though I can’t smell oranges without vividly recalling Jack Nicholson in the The Shining, and hearing “REDRUM, REDRUM” in my mind. Wow, typing all that out makes me want to go to the library and video store, LOL.

But the purpose of this post is to let you know that Stephen King’s 1408 Movie is coming out. It’s based on his short story of the same name. Here’s the trailer:

1408 Movie stars Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack, and the plot is vintage King. A horror novelist whose bestsellers discredit paranormal events, he scoffs at the very idea of an afterlife. He checks in to suite 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel to finish up research for his latest book against the advice of the hotel manager, who tells him that “no one has ever lasted more than an hour” in the room. What follows will make a very excellent book–if he survives the night.

opens on June 22nd, and if thrillers are your thing, this movie has your name all over it. I’ll go if I could get someone to go with me, but I’m too scared to go by myself. I don’t mind the typical horror movies, because blood just isn’t that scary to me, and so most horror flicks either amuse me or bore me. This one will raise the short hairs on the back of my neck, and so, I need a buddy.
