David, what have they done to you?

I have been a fan of David Caruso since he was on NYPD Blue. Yeah, I watched that show from the first episode until it went off the air. It was good, but never the same after he left. I was so excited about CSI Miami when I found out he was going to be in it, and I watched that show from the first episode, too. The last couple of seasons have been hugely disappointing to me. I don’t know if it’s the writers, the director or David’s own ego, but this *strategic pause* before every. single. line??? It’s got to stop. You’re killing me here.

It is a safe bet that Caruso’s inflated ego did a lot to destroy CSI Miami which was good up to season 3.But then someone had the stupid idea (guess WHO???) to bring Mareeesooolll (aka Aerosol) into play and the show and Caruso’s acting did a nosedive.
But if you have read the Caruso interview of Tv Guide 09-14,2007 you’ll know this guy is slowly going overboard. Caine lives inside me. Creepy very creepy

I missed that interview, but thanks for dropping by :)

I never cared for this guy. He never impressed me. I was trying to understand what the ego was about!

Here is a part of that Tv Guide interview.

The décor in Caruso’s home call it Miami moderne, as in CSI: Miami.
There are FRAMED posters of Horatio (what sane person would hang up posters of himself all around the house????) DVD collections, Miami Post-it notes, games, keychains. Caruso is the star of the world’s most popular TV show, as it’s been called, and its biggest fan. As the actor fiddles with a Horatio bobble head doll, he explains:

“CSI: Miami isn’t just a television show for me. It’s invaded every aspect of my life” (Pheww….CREEPY)

Even in his own living room Caruso can’t stop talking about Horatio Caine: “He’s somebody who lives with me.”

Caruso starts choking up (???? What a wuss!) when he talks about the first show (cross-over Las Vegas/Miami): The episode revolved around a girl kidnapped in Vegas and found at a palm-tree farm in south Florida. The girl escapes but her parents are dead, and in one of the final scenes, Horatio opens up to the girl in a way he only seems to do with children. He tells her, “I lost someone once.”

The guy really needs to get himself some friends. When you start hanging out with fictional characters, you know you’ve reached new levels of pathetic.

I like most of the movies and shows this guy is in, but never really found him to be terribly sexy.

Conan Obrien with an attitude. They are both entertaining. :)

  7. Vixen Says:

Right. However, I think something is terrible wrong when an actor starts to become too attached to the role he plays. There are a handful of actors (Jim Carey comes to my mind)who had to check themselfes into a mental hospital after a movie wrapped - because they couldn’t rid their minds of the figure they portrayed.

  8. cass Says:

    Cause he’s a hottie, Deb. That’s why.

  9. cass Says:

Anna, thanks for posting that! It is a little….weird.

  10. cass Says:

Umm, yeah Brett. My husband calls it the Emily Proctor show. Perhaps you’d fid her a bit more “sexy” ;)

  11. cass Says:

Vixen, I can totally see how that could happen. The human psyche isn’t meant to hold two different people. In non-actors, they call it schizophrenia.

  12. Vixen Says:

I wonder WHAT will happen if CSI Miami “closes forever”. If CSi Miami invades every part of his live then what will happen if it is taken away from him? I know that is too philosophical right now but ones does wonder…

  13. cass Says:

    That is an interesting contemplation.

Thank you. I still woder as to WHY he made that TV Guide interview. It certainly raises a lot of questions.
I kind of felt sorry for him - a bit.
