Shutters

May 12th, 2008

Right now, I live in a mobile home, complete with vinyl shutters on the outside. Mine are the ones that are purely decorative. Now, I live in hurricane alley where actual real and true working wooden shutters would be both practical and useful, and I have always wanted them, because I think they are beautiful. But no one has them here. Do you know where I have seen them? Kansas. Go figure.

Not these eyes

May 4th, 2008

The very idea of eye surgery heebs me out. I could never have Lasik, because I am afraid something would go horribly wrong, and I would be blind. I know, that’s really unlikely, but you do only get one set of eyes, after all: Better safe than sorry and all that! OTOH, if I could afford it, I would totally have lipo.

Clutz

May 3rd, 2008

I’m actually pretty clutzy when I am tired, with a tendency to ram into things. I guess most people are like that, and the only serious injury I’ve gotten from it is a broken toe once. I’m pretty sure that was due more to trying to walk through my disastrously cluttered living room in the dark than my tiredness, though. Still and all, there it is: when I am tired, I run into things.

Money Doesn’t Talk

April 23rd, 2008

I have no clue how financial markets work. I’ve never had enough money to have to worry about investing and stocks and futures and all that, and so I have remained woefully ignorant about the whole mess. It’s one of the few areas of knowledge that I have zero interest in. I guess the investor relations department of my financial institution would be very disappointed in me. I’ll try not to cry.

Do it myself

April 22nd, 2008

I have never in my life used a moving company. I have moved across the country twice, and within a state 4 times, a state away once, and I have packed myself and moved myself each time. I’ve had help from friends, but never from professionals. i;ve never lost an item ot broken anything of significance. Those New York movers have got nothing on me!
